On behalf of the Federation of Global Tamils (FGT) we invite you to join us and help the urgent humanitarian crisis unfolding in the North and East of Sri Lanka, where severe flooding has displaced thousands of families and caused widespread destruction.

At this critical moment, the global Tamil diaspora has a unique responsibility—and an opportunity—to come together in solidarity to support our people back home. FGT has initiated an emergency Flood Relief Mission, and we are reaching out to key Tamil diaspora organizations like yours to join us as partners in this collective effort.

Severe flooding in the Island of Sri Lanka

The recent severe flooding in the Island of Sri Lanka has caused significant hardship for thousands of families. Many are displaced, homes are damaged, essential supplies are lost, and immediate humanitarian assistance is urgently needed.

As a global Tamil diaspora organization committed to protecting our people’s welfare and dignity, the Federation of Global Tamils (FGT) is launching an emergency appeal to support flood-affected communities.

With the help of our community and well-wishers, we aim to provide:

Immediate Relief

- Dry ration packs for affected families

- ⁠Clean drinking water

- ⁠Essential medicines and hygiene kits

- ⁠Temporary shelter assistance

Short-Term Support

- School supplies for affected children

- ⁠Basic household items to help families restart their lives

- ⁠Assistance for vulnerable groups including elderly individuals, single mothers, and persons with disabilities

FGT Establishes a 7-Member Task Group

November 30th 2025

To ensure effective coordination, accountability, and timely implementation of the Island of Sri Lanka Flood Relief Mission, the Federation of Global Tamils (FGT) has established a dedicated 7-Member Task Group. This team brings together experienced professionals, community leaders, and specialists from across the Tamil diaspora.

The Task Group will lead the assessment, planning, fundraising, and distribution of emergency relief, working closely with trusted partners on the ground to support affected families with transparency and efficiency.
